Francisco's Mexican Deli

Looking for authentic Mexican flavors in Vista, CA? Francisco's Mexican Deli might just become your new favorite spot. Tucked away on 821 N Santa Fe Ave, this place isn’t flashy, but the food does all the talking. It’s that kind of low-key gem where locals go for the real deal.

One of the standout dishes here is the Birria – tender, flavorful, and perfect with a side of consommé. Speaking of which, their Consome is rich and comforting, especially on cooler days. You’ll also find Menudo on the menu, a classic Mexican soup that’s especially popular on weekends. And if you're into deep, traditional flavors, try the Mole or Adobada – both pack a punch in all the right ways.

The vibe? Super chill. There’s outdoor seating, so you can enjoy your tacos in the sunshine. It’s great for groups or a casual lunch with the fam – even the kids will be happy. Got a dog? Bring them along. They’re welcome, too. Just expect moderate noise – it’s a lively spot, but not overwhelming.

Whether you're craving something familiar or want to try a new dish with bold spices, Francisco’s hits that sweet spot between traditional and comfort. It's the kind of place where regulars are greeted by name, and newcomers are instantly made to feel at home.

So if you're cruising through Vista or just looking for a new local go-to, drop by Francisco's Mexican Deli. Great food, good people, and a vibe that keeps you coming back.

Oh how I love thee, Francisco, whoever you are. The quesobirrias are TO DIE FOR. No prices listed but I always get good value for what I pay. Fresh made tortillas, really good rellenos, an excellent selection overall and all from a little "hole in the wall" kinda place. Servers are super friendly. A pace you can sit down, too, but we typically do takeout.

This is the best Mexican food we've had (in a restaurant) since moving from LA to north SD county. Minus one star for not posting prices on the menu. It's difficult to responsibly order for a family of 7 without knowing how much anything costs upfront. FYI the following order was $37: asada burrito Bean and cheese burrito 3 carnitas tacos (a la carte) Large horchata $37 seems a little high for all that, considering everything was a la carte (no sides) but not exactly price gouging either. The carnitas were the best - much better than the carne asada. The salsa was spicy and flavorful. Good beans. The wait to get our food on a Sunday at 11am was excessive. I'm talking like 40 minutes. This ain't no fast food taco shop. Worth the wait, and the price, if you're stuck on finding something authentic and delicious. My Mexican husband approves. We'll have to bring the in-laws by and see what they say...
